After years of resisting blondness as a symbol of western beauty standards, I began to reconsider what that choice meant for me. Adopting blond hair became less about assimilation and more about autonomy in defining my appearance and the materials I used in my art. This project reflects that shift, using synthetic blond hair to explore the tension between imposed ideals and self-definition.
